This long-awaited reform represents the most profound change in the field of foreigners in recent years and responds to the need to adapt the regulations to Spain's social, labour and demographic challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new regulation introduces important improvements in the procedures for residence, family reunification and access to the labour market, with special attention to the inclusion of vulnerable groups and the promotion of training as a means of integration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Major developments already underway:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udd39 <strong>New types of roots<\/strong>Five types of residence for exceptional circumstances are consolidated: social roots, family roots, socio-occupational roots, socio-training roots and the new second-chance roots, aimed at people who lost their previous permit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udd39 <strong>Reduction of deadlines<\/strong>The length of stay in Spain required to apply for some arraigos is reduced from three to two years, which facilitates the regularisation of many foreigners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udd39 <strong>Improvements for foreign students<\/strong>They can now work up to 30 hours a week, even if they do part of their studies online.
