WHAT IS IT?
It is a authorisation to stay in Spain for a period exceeding ninety days for the completion or extension of studies in an approved teaching centre in Spain, in a full-time programme, leading to the obtaining a degree or certificate of studies.
NEWS
- Family members of students may apply for their residence permit from Spain.without the need to apply at the Consulate.
- Applications from Spain only:
- Students from higher education.
- Those undertaking training which provides certificate of technical aptitude or professional qualification.
- Students in health specialisation programmes.
- For other modalities of study, the application must be processed through the Spanish Consulate in the country of residence.
Extension of Stay for Studies in Spain: What you need to know
If you are studying in Spain and you need to continue your studies, you can apply for the extension of your residence permit. This extension allows you to continue residing legally while you continue your training, internship, voluntary work or academic exchange.
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION
You must submit the application within 60 days prior to expiry of your current stay. You can also up to 90 days laterHowever, this may entail penalties.
MAIN REQUIREMENTS
For the extension to be granted, you need to provide proof:
- That you have passed the previous studies o met the training objectives.
- That you have sufficient financial means to stay in Spain during the new period of stay.
- That you have health insurance that covers your entire stay.
- That you have enrolled or admitted in a new official curriculum.
- No criminal record or prohibition to enter Spain.
